Although not always on the mind of residents of the island, the city itself through the coordinated efforts of its staff and their dedication to educating residents and business, as well as upgrading of the city’s building codes and ordinances are constantly working to minimize loss of life and property. Through their efforts the city’s ratings have remained stable, which is a big plus to residents.
FLOOD AWARENESS WEEK
By Proclamation, the City on Monday evening declared the Week of March 8 as Flood Awareness Week. As such, Flood Plain Coordinator Kelli DeFedericis will be providing valuable information to the public from a booth in the Farmers Market on both March 3 and March 10 held at Veterans Community Park. Residents are encouraged to see her there to answer many of their questions on both of those days or call her at City Hall at 239-3926.
