Exciting Season of Shows at Marco Lutheran Church

Marco Lutheran Church has been in the play production business for 25 years!

The first musical performed in the now Great Room Theatre, was “Godspell,” way back in 1994. The collaborative project with actors from all over the Naples and Marco community established a long running series of theatrical offerings for our island residents. Broadway favorites like “Man of La Mancha,” “The Music Man,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Camelot,” “Barnum,” “Stop the World,” and “Frankenstein, A New Musical” have entertained residents over the years.

This season, as a celebration of our 25th anniversary, the Community Theatre Project is bringing back “Godspell” to our stage. This wonderfully energetic show by Stephen Schwartz, the creator of “Pippin” and “Wicked,” will be a delight to our island audiences. Familiar tunes and longtime Broadway standards like, “Day By Day” will have audiences singing in their seats. Our revival will feature a brand new cast as well as reach back into Marco nostalgia by offering special guest appearances from some of the original 1994 cast. The show is scheduled for performances on February 28th, March 1st and 2nd in the Great Room Theatre at Marco Lutheran Church, 525 North Collier Blvd., Marco Island. Tickets may be purchased at the Church Box Office. More information can be obtained by calling 239-394-0332.

In keeping with tradition, this production will be presented entirely by local actors. Auditions for the production will be held at Marco Lutheran Church at 7 PM on Wednesday, December 12th and at 1 PM on Sunday, December 16th. Actors should prepare and provide accompaniment for a personal song to perform. They will be asked to read and sing from the libretto as well.

‘Celebrate’ Returns

Marco Lutheran Church will once again host “Celebrate” on December 10th and 11th at 7:30 PM in the Great Room Theatre.  This Christmas Island Style event is intended to get everyone into the holiday spirit by enjoying some fine entertainment, as well as getting involved in the seasonal singing itself. Old time secular and sacred favorites will surely help us to hall out the holly and trim the trees in silver and gold. Community choristers will lead the carols, and several outstanding soloists will add their talents. Internationally acclaimed Eirinn Abu will be our featured guest with his soprano sax. Vocalists Lisa Federico, Chris High, Bob Pieske, and Craig Greusel will croon some yuletide tunes. Dueling Pianists Lucille Gaita and John Davis will tickle the frosty ivories.

Come join us for this special second annual evening of Community Christmas Joy! The concert is free, but you will need a ticket to get in the door. Tickets are available at The Marco Lutheran Church Office. More information can be obtained by calling 239-394-0332.
