Early Childhood Program Receives 5 Stars

The Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida recently awarded the Guadalupe Center’s Early Childhood Education Program with 5 Stars through its Southwest Florida Stars Program.  This is the Coalition’s highest rating and “reflects the quality of care your program offers to children, day in and day out,” the group’s announcement states.

Southwest Florida Stars evaluates programs on six child care center quality standards that include learning environments and classroom interactions, health and safety, screening assessment and curriculum, professional development and staff qualifications, family and community relationships, and professional responsibility. The voluntary program rates child care centers through a process of site visits and off-site data collection.

The Guadalupe Center has been serving the children and families of Immokalee for more than 30 years with the mission to break the cycle of poverty through education for the children of Immokalee. This non-profit, privately-funded organization works to change the lives of 1,100 children a day through its Early Childhood Education, After-school and college-preparatory Tutor Corps Programs.
