Attaining the highest rank of Eagle Scout within the Boy Scouts of America program is no easy task. Alexander Robau of Marco Island has been in Scouting for the past 11 years, starting out as a Tiger Cub in the first grade. Now a high school student, he is working on his final project to achieve Eagle Scout status.

Among the heavy criterion that goes along with receiving top Scouting honors is to plan, develop, and give leadership to a service project for any religious organization, school or community. “When deciding on my Eagle Scout project, I realized I wanted to give back to my community by helping the many great extracurricular groups at Lely High School that make use of the concession stand to earn money for their programs,” said Robau.

The plan is to improve many of the concession stand’s storage places and to add the ability to lock these areas for safer storage. In addition to improving existing

cabinet storage space by adding doors and locks, the project will build more permanent back room storage space by constructing shelves that will expand the ability of the various groups to store supplies. By focusing his Eagle Scout project on the improvement of the concession stand, Alexander intends to make its operation more efficient, helping the extracurricular groups and their volunteers more easily make the money necessary to continue great programs at Lely High School.

On Saturday, October 13th, Alexander held a car wash to help raise the funds needed to complete his project. Members of Troop 234, along with some of Alexander’s friends from outside the troop, were there to support him and help wash the cars. The event was a great success, raising $500.00 for the project. Alexander would like to thank the community for coming and contributing to its success. He would also like to thank the Marco Lutheran Church for advertising the car wash and providing the location.
