Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is nationally recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Dwight Brock, Collier County Clerk of Courts and Comptroller, remains committed to helping Floridians who may be suffering from domestic violence.

More than 120,000 cases of domestic violence were reported in Florida last year, according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) and sadly, many more incidents of domestic violence go unreported.

In 2015, Collier County alone had 1469 incidents of domestic violence reported which was up from the 1460 incidents reported in 2014 and 1342 incidents reported in 2013 according to FDLE’s Uniform Crime Report (UCR).

Victims of domestic violence can file a Petition for Injunction, more commonly known as a Restraining Order, by visiting the Clerk of Courts’ Domestic Violence Office located on the 3rd floor of the Collier County Courthouse Annex or the Immokalee Clerk of Courts Satellite Office Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Collier County Clerk of Courts has a dedicated Domestic Violence page on with links to local, state and national resources to assist victims of domestic violence.
