Dear AMIkids Big Cypress Fans

Staff member Tom Long came in on his day off to take the boys over to the 10,000 Islands National Wildlife Refuge to help out with their annual coastal cleanup. Like Marines, they braved the heat and the biting insects to attack the garbage by land and by sea, filling up an entire pick-up truck. They worked side by side with the NWS staff, getting to see a great career field close-up

and learning about the various wetland environments that they worked in from both the NWS staff and our own outdoor instructor Tom. Later they were thanked by the NWS staff at a nice ceremony for their great effort to help the environment.

The boys love to help out and it helps them to feel like they are giving back to the community and that they are valuable assets to our communities, which they do and are.
