Come Walk the Beach With Us

Friends of Tigertail Debbie and Marty Roddy invite you to the Rose History Auditorium on Monday February 4th at 10:30 A.M. for a virtual tour of Tigertail Beach and Sand dollar Island. They will also, include a brief survey of the history and an explanation of nature’s impact on the area.

Immediately after their presentation, Mango’s Restaurant will provide picnic lunches for $11.00—these come with bottled water, but you may bring your own non-alcoholic drink if you wish.

The group will then adjourn to the beach, and you may carpool from the museum complex. If you do not have a sticker on your car for beach parking, you may obtain one at Caxambas Park.

Debbie and Marty will oversee a guided tour of Tigertail and highlight the flora and fauna which make this such a special and unique place. Long ago, the ancient Calusa Indians who lived on Marco drew upon these resources for maintaining their community life. The area is a designated bird sanctuary and is listed No. 73 of 500 stops on the Florida Migratory Bird Trail, as well as one of the top five birding areas in the southeastern US.

Please send checks for $11.00 per person made out to the Marco Island Historical Society to B.J. Henning, 950 Sundrop Court, Marco Island, FL 34145 and specify whether you want your lunch to have a club sandwich or chicken salad on a croissant. Deadline for this even is Feb. 1, 2013.
