COLLIER COUNTY Road watch report

I-75:   Recreational access area on Alligator Alley: Construction project  Crews are building a recreational access facility that includes a boat ramp and parking lot with fencing and lighting.  Work involves widening and resurfacing the facility’s roadway, making drainage improvements, and adding intelligent transportation system components and a high-tension cable barrier system on I-75 in this area. The job is estimated for completion by summer 2012. The contractor is Convalvias USA.

I-75:  At the SR 951 interchange: Construction project  Crews are making improvements to interchange ramps, adding new mast arm signals, and placing new pavement markings and signs.  Activities involve excavation and placement of embankment and subgrade at northbound and southbound off-ramps and northbound on-ramp. Crews are also installing signal pole bases at all interchange ramps.  Drivers should plan extra travel time if destinations are time-sensitive.  Message boards will alert drivers when lane closures are scheduled.  Completion is expected in fall 2012.  The contractor is APAC Southeast.

SR 951: Over Mcllvane Creek l (4.7 miles south of US 41): Maintenance contract project — Contractor crews will begin working on bridge repairs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, weather permitting. Lane closures will occur in the northbound right lanes. Motorists are advised to watch for slow moving traffic and possible delays.

SR 29: From north of Oil Well Road to south of County Road 846 in Immokalee (approximately eight miles):Construction project  This project resurfaces the roadway and includes sidewalk, shoulder, and guardrail work and signal modifications at Farm Workers Village. Crews are grading shoulders and widening turn lanes along the project. Construction is scheduled Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lane closures may be necessary between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. with possible delays. Motorists are advised to look out for pedestrians and bicyclists, obey posted speed limits and drive with caution in the construction zone. Completion is estimated for fall 2012. The contractor is C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc.
