State Roadways countywide: Maintenance permit project — Crews are replacing raised pavement markers nightly from 8 p.m. to midnight, Sunday night/overnight, December 9 through Thursday night/overnight, December 13, weather permitting.Crews also will be striping nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday night/overnight, December 9 to Thursday night/overnight, December 13, weather permitting. Work requires a slow moving operation. Crews will work on the following roadways in Collier County: US 41, SR 84, SR 951, SR 29, SR 90 and SR 82 (this order is not necessarily sequential). Motorists should be advised of slow moving traffic and to use caution traveling through these areas.

I-75: Recreational access area (east of Firewater Canal) on Alligator Alley: Construction project — Crews are building a recreational access facility that includes a boat ramp and parking lot with fencing and lighting. Work involves widening and resurfacing the facility’s roadway, making drainage improvements, and adding intelligent transportation system components and a high-tension cable barrier system on I-75 in this area. Crews will have daily lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on northbound I-75 in the vicinity of mile marker 52, weather permitting. Work includes widening as well as milling and resurfacing the mainline. This will affect the northbound lanes only which will have one lane open and one lane closed during the operations. These dates are all dependant on the weather prior to the closure and during the activities. The job is estimated for completion by end of year 2012. The contractor is Convalvias USA.

I-75: At the SR 951/Collier Boulevard interchange: Construction project — Crews are making improvements to interchange ramps, adding new mast arm signals, and placing new pavement markings and signs. Activities involve placement of base material, paving of road and shoulder widening; sign and signalization installation at the northbound and southbound off ramps, and the northbound on ramp (off the roadway). The traveling public should only expect minor delays as construction equipment is entering and leaving the roadway to move about the jobsite. Completion is expected by end of year 2012. The contractor is APAC Southeast.

US 41: From SR 951 to Greenway Road (southbound/eastbound on US 41): Maintenance permitproject —Crews will be removing and grouting in place a 2 inch conduit. Motorists should expect intermittent right turn lanes closures to access conduit through manholes in the turn lane. Traffic will not have any through lane closures.

US 41: From SR 29 to the Dade County Line (approximately thirty-two miles): Construction project – This project is widening the roadway shoulders from two to four feet and replaces curb and railing on 41 bridges. Work also includes paving side street connections and installing guardrail and pavement markings. Weather permitting, crews will continue widening and paving the shoulders, placing sod at the edge of the new asphalt. They will also continue concrete work and begin placing guardrail at the bridges. Drivers will encounter two lane closures along the project – one for shoulder operations and a second where crews are doing bridge work. Activities are planned for daytime, Monday through Friday. Motorists are advised to observe posted speed limits, look out for pedestrians and bicyclists, obey flagging operations and drive with caution in the construction zone. Completion is estimated for spring 2014. The contractor is Wright Construction Group.

SR 84/Davis Boulevard: From west of Radio Road to Santa Barbara Boulevard: Construction project — Crews are expanding the road to six lanes, adding sidewalk, bike lanes, and street lights, and building a noise wall. Crews have constructed temporary eastbound traffic lanes allowing for the new roadway to be constructed. This traffic configuration is expected to be in effect through spring 2013. Crews are currently placing embankment along the north roadway and installing drainage structures in the median areas at the west end of the project near Santa Barbara Boulevard. There will be intermittent lane closures during these activities. Crews have also begun installation of the noise wall in front of the Madison Park community. Motorists are advised to use caution and watch for workers in the construction zone. Project completion is estimated by end of 2013, weather permitting. The contractor is Guymann Construction.

SR 29: At I-75: Construction project – Crews will resurface interstate ramps and SR 29 immediately north and south of the interchange. Work does not include the bridge (overpass) over the interstate. Crews are placing new guardrail, pavement markings, construction signs, and erosion control and are moving equipment to the project. Work on roadway shoulders has started and is currently under construction. Ramps will remain open to drivers during the project although traffic may shift slightly during scheduled working hours. Flaggers may be assisting traffic. Work is performed during daylight hours, weather permitting. This week work is limited to installation, and adjustment of sign panel placement and general clean up of debris, final dressing and sodding, traffic will be maintained both directions. Motorists are advised to look out for pedestrians and bicyclists along SR 29, obey flagging operations, observe posted speed limits, and drive with caution in the construction zones. Completion is estimated for fall 2012. The contractor is APAC Southeast.
