Donna Fiala

Recently the Chamber had a marvelous After 5 event at the Marco Island Florist showroom. I had no idea that they had anything more than flowers, but what a delightful surprise to step into a shop of lovely gifts and decorations, PLUS flowers! Remember the old Hallmark shop that Lou & Pat Smith owned and that we all loved? I would have to say this darling shop filled that gap……… the staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable!

Just to mention a few treasures they offer besides gorgeous floral arrangements are: blooming plants, home décor and accents, candles and decorative fragrances, Godiva Chocolates, greeting cards, baskets including wine, gourmet cheese, fruit, lobster and steaks, permanent botanicals, and holiday decorations. I think this showroom is truly a “One Shop Fits All” in gift giving.

They say Christmas is magical at Marco Island Florist! I don’t want to miss the display and new items they’ll feature! Oh, by the way, they even decorate for weddings, seaside weddings and special events in your home.

The Marco Island Kiwanis will hold its annual banquet this year on November 10th, at which time they will recognize all of the board members who have worked tirelessly this past year to maintain the club’s premier position as one of the most successful in the entire district. The Board added so much fun and friendship to each event and meeting. Thank you, John Coff (and certainly Arlene too!) for a great job well done! And thanks to all of your board members who have assisted every step of the way. The President-elect, Dennis Pidherny, will be sworn in at the annual banquet, so we can expect another great year in front of us! The Marco Island Kiwanis Club is also in the planning stages for an event called a “Comedy Dog Show” scheduled for January 12th. Stay tuned for more information.

Artist Muffy Gill will be displaying her talent at the Marco Historical Society beginning October 2nd. Muffy has lived in Naples for over 30 years and has deep roots in the artist community. Please stop by to see her works. It seems there is always something going on at the Marco Island Historical Museum. It is becoming one of those places that you don’t want to miss because they keep adding and changing the venue, so you have to stop by every couple of weeks.
