Celebrated international artist, Misa, and Gallery O of Naples to hold 2nd annual red-carpet art exposition and silent auction to benefit Kids Fight Cancer

The single-named artist, Misa, and Gallery O of Naples will be collaborating for the second time in the art event of the year. The theme for 2012, entitled “Dawn of the New Age,” will benefit “Kids Fight Cancer.” The red-carpet art expo is scheduled for Friday, March 16th from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and will be held at Gallery O – purveyor of exotic Belizean hardwoods, rustic and fine art, furniture, jewelry, and home décor – located at 600 Fifth Avenue South, #106, right next to Chico’s.

Born in the Czech Republic and now based out of Chicago, Misa has long been a supporter of worthy causes. She has held major expos in New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, and Prague, fundraising for numerous charitable national and international organizations. Although Misa’s lifetime body-of-work has thus far reflected her artistic passion for empowered women, this year’s theme is ground-breaking new territory. Her series, “Dawn of the New Age,” rendered in her own unique medium of acrylic-on-broken-wood, will for the first time be based on the masculine, rather than the feminine form. Moreover, the series will represent a spectacular study of color; each painting pertaining to one of the seven chakras or psychic circles of energy which vibrate or rotate at different speeds and relate to various physiological areas of the human body. In celebration of the all colors of the chakras, and for the purpose of channeling the flow of their energies, hosts, attendees and guests are invited and encouraged to wear white.

This year’s beneficiary “Kids Fight Cancer” ( was founded in 1985 by Jim Pesoli of Chicago, a four-time cancer survivor and father of two, who underwent nine grueling months of radiation, chemotherapy, and two bone marrow transplants to beat the disease. Unable to imagine the terror that children might face under such circumstances, Jim was motivated and inspired to create “Kids Fight Cancer” which became an Affiliated Organization to Children’s Memorial Hospital of Chicago until it expanded its fundraising initiatives in 2010 to include additional institutions throughout Chicago and the rest of the country.

“Our organization is not simply about treatment, trauma, and pain,” says Pesoli. “Rather, it is all about ‘Celebrating Life’ – focusing on providing a safe, educational, and entertaining atmosphere for the enrichment of children who are challenged by this life-threatening disease. Our fundraising efforts are designed to be exciting and high-energy – fun, fulfilling, creative, and rewarding.”

But Misa’s mission is much greater than the simple focus on any individual or single benevolent cause. She believes that if her art can help retrieve a positive sense of self within the individual, initiate growth, and balance the energies on a physical, intellectual, and emotional basis – then it has the potential to impact the collective spirit of man and womankind on a global level and influence the holistic healing of a world in need.

Local sponsors for the event include: Robert of Philadelphia, Mary Carol Photography, Osetra Champagne and Caviar Bar, and Caloosa Tent & Rental. Also featuring Live Music by Diego Verney, Body Painting Performance by Juan Diaz, World Mission Kundalini, and Yoga by DamaDe’ Amanbir. Complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
