Maria Schoenfelder, a Master Gardener, will present a slide show on Container Gardening with Unusual Plants and Planters on Monday, November 11, at 1:15 PM at Wesley United Methodist Church as part of Calusa Garden Club’s November meeting. The public is invited to attend Schoenfelder’s presentation and the Calusa Garden Club plant sale that will follow. Members will bring cuttings and plants from their gardens and containers with identifying information to help buyers purchase the right plants for their locations.
Schoenfelder is a six-year resident of Southwest Florida and she has embraced our Florida landscape and is passionate about saving our environment. She promotes Florida friendly gardening and will feature information throughout her presentation about the benefits of planting Florida friendly plants. Her presentation covers best practices for containers gardening for our southwest Florida climate, and also features how to use unusual plants and planters to make a statement container garden. Schoenfelder’s favorite unusual planter is a shoe-bag containing an herb garden! She will show containers with tillandsia, bromeliads and orchids.
Following Schoenfelder’s presentation, Calusa Garden Club will host a plant sale with plants from members’ gardens and containers. Bromeliads, succulents, flowers and shrubs will be included.
