Calusa Garden Club Learns About Orchid Care

Over 36 Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island members listened in fascination to Charlette Roman and Linda Shockley, who gave a workshop presentation on their orchid collection.

Roman and Shockley brought more than ten specimens of four varieties of orchids to display and discuss, including Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, Dendrobium and Vanda.

Also at the Calusa Garden Club meeting, Linda Ariel was inducted as a new member. Jackie Purvis, Vice-President of Membership, along with President Sandy Wallen, welcomed Ariel with a membership certificate, a Calusa Garden Club Yearbook and a rose.

Calusa Garden Club is a member of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs and membership is open to those interested in horticulture, floral design and environmental matters residing five months or more in Collier County.

Calusa Garden Club meets the second Monday of each month, October through March, at Wesley United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 350 S. Barfield Drive, Marco Island. Business meetings begin at 12:30 PM and programs begin at 1:15 PM. Calusa Garden Club welcomes visitors interested in our educational programs and visitors interested in membership.
