Boys & Girls Club of Collier County help raise awareness of swimming safety at “World’s Largest Swimming Lesson”

The Boys & Girls Club of Collier County recently joined more than 40 Collier area agencies at Sun-N-Fun Lagoon to participate in the “World’s Largest Swimming Lesson.” The Southwest Florida waterpark broke the record for the Largest Single Location with over 1,200 swimmers taking part in the lesson.

The global event included registrations of more than 40,000 participants at 900+  locations in 48 states and 26 countries. It was created by the World Waterpark Association to raise awareness of the importance of teaching children to swim. During the event, children were led by instructors to practice swimming activities such as kicking techniques and proper entry and exit from the pool.

“As part of our summer program, we have hundreds of kids who swim in our pool every day. It is important that members recognize the significance of water safety and to be part of the event is a great tool to ensure they remain safe while enjoying the pool,” said Paul Schultz, Vice President of Operations at the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County. “

Boys & Girls Club of Collier County Board Trustee Member Terrance Flynn served as an official witness for the event.
