People in Southwest Florida are known for their generosity. The same goes for the companies and organizations that call this area home. A perfect example would be Berkshire Hathaway Home Services (BHHS). For 24 years, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, and its predecessors, have supported kids with cancer through The Sunshine Kids Foundation, not just locally, but across the nation.
This year, rather than the usual golf tournament fundraiser, Geri Nowak coordinated the Marco Island Berkshire Hathaway office effort, and garnered support for a new event. So, with further support from the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Cluband Spa, along with sponsors Lennox and Condee Cooling and Electric, the Beach Bash was born.
October 30th was the perfect evening to enjoy a beach barbecue, complete with a sunset that did not disappoint. The ever-popular Landsharks entertained and kept everyone’s feet moving on the dance floor. Geri said, “This is the first event of its kind for us. It was a lot of fun and we look forward to making next year’s even better! We are very grateful for everyone who came out and had fun, or supported our efforts to help the kids with cancer who live in Collier County.” Ken Bennett, managing broker for Berkshire Hathaway’sHome Services thanked everyone for their support of Berkshire Hathaway’s chosen endeavor, on behalf of the Sunshine Kids.
According to Janet Yon, Sunshine Kids, Southeast division special projects coordinator, “there are over 500 children receiving treatment at Golisano Children’s Hospital! We are committed to providing positive group activities and emotional support for young cancer patients. The Marco Island office did a great job with a fun new event, and we can share the experience of that success.”
