3 Hours Yields over 40 Bags of Trash!
Last Sunday’s City of Marco Island Beach Advisory Committee Beach Clean Up was a huge, or “hefty”, success! This success is due to the high number of participants from CJ’s on the Bay and the Boathouse Motel employees. The group swept the entire beach, starting at 8 am at both the South Beach Access and the Tigertail Beach Park, meeting in the middle at the Marriott Resort.
Publix supplied the bags, gloves and bottled water to all participants and Marco Island Civic Association provided their beach vehicle to collect full bags of trash for disposal. Everything from bottle caps, cigarette butts, straws to shoes, plastic bags, clothing, broken beach chairs and large pieces of debris were removed from the beach creating over forty “hefty” bags of trash! Beach Advisory Committee members in attendance were Kevin Donlan, Bernardo Bezos and George Schmidt.
The next scheduled beach clean up is Saturday, September 17th for the National Coastal Clean Up Day sponsored locally by the Friends of Tigertail Beach, Inc. Participants for this clean up should meet at the Tigertail Beach Park kiosk at 8 AM. Trash bags, gloves and bottled water will be provided. Come out and do you part!
