Leadership Marco is a Marco Island Area Chamber of Commerce program that provides current and potential community leaders with exposure to the community’s essence. The four-month long program began in July and will see the 14-member class immerse itself in Marco’s history, infrastructure, government, hospitality industry, educational providers, media, tourism, parks and recreation, law enforcement, culture, real estate and more.
The Naples native has been manager of the United Church of Marco Island’s Bargain Basket Thrift Shop since Easter.
She previously worked in small business marketing for three years, after graduating from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in human communication and a minor in mass communication.
Kopren said she was made aware of Leadership Marco by one of the volunteers at the Bargain Basket and her boss, Rev. Dr. Mark Williams, the United Church of Marco’s senior minister and a member of the Leadership Marco class of 2015.
“I think, especially for those like me who are new to working on the island, there is so much to learn about the area and its people,” she said. “It’s also a great opportunity to network with those you may not get the chance to (meet) otherwise.”
Kopren’s goals for her participation in the program are simple.
“I am most looking forward to connecting with my fellow Leadership Marco classmates, in addition to earning a greater understanding of Marco Island,” she said.
