Award-winning artist and devout Floridian Tara O’Neill is hosting her 14th annual home-grown art extravaganza, Saturday and Sunday, April 29 and 30, from 1-4 PM at Little Bar Restaurant, 205 Harbor Place in the delightfully unique historic fishing village of Goodland.

A solo exhibition until 2013, O’Neill has since shared the spotlight with an assortment of respected area artists. This year O’Neill will be joined by guest artist, Karen Swanker, a masterful acrylic and oil painter of the impressionist school, and also well recognized for her found-object assemblages. They are both active in area cultural non-profits, including the Goodland Arts Alliance, Marco Island Center for the Arts, Marco Island Foundation for the Arts, Marco Island Historical Museum.

The Bozicnik family, owners of the famous waterfront Little Bar Restaurant for almost 40 years, continue their support of the arts in Goodland by opening their antique-rich dining rooms, breezy screened-porch, tree-canopied patio, and brick-paved sculpture garden, to showcase the artists’ works. Count on creative refreshments creatively served.

“Artists can flourish with support from their communities,” explains O’Neill. “Not just when they’re starting out, but continuously. I owe a great deal to the unfailing support and encouragement I’ve received from this tiny village over many years.” A village she describes as “one of the last working fishing communities remaining on the southwest coast of Florida. It’s a place of history, mystery, and endless inspiration.”

Swanker’s work can be viewed at Local Color Gallery in Shops of Old Marco; O’Neill exhibits at Blue Mangrove Gallery In Marco’s Town Center. For more information: Tara O’Neill,, 239-642-0528. Karen Swanker,, 239-642-3673. Little Bar Restaurant,, 239-394-5663.
