Arsenault Studio Hosts Fakahatchee Gala

Submitted Photo | Artist Paul Arsenault works on a painting for the January 16th gala at his studio in Naples.

The Friends of Fakahatchee and Paul and Eileen Arsenault will host a “Five Faces of Fakahatchee” gala Thursday, January 16th at the Arsenault Studio & Banyan Arts Gallery in Naples. The event is being sponsored by First Florida Integrity Bank.

The event will honor Lavern Norris Gaynor whose father Lester was instrumental in preserving the land for Big Cypress Bend Boardwalk which has been maintained by the Friends of Fakahatchee for the past 20 years.

“There is no doubt that without the generosity and foresight of the Norris family, this National Natural Landmark would have been lost forever,” said Glen Stacell, President of the Friends of Fakahatchee.

Proceeds from the auction of a new Paul Arsenault painting of the Fakahatchee will go to boardwalk improvements. The painting is one of five of the Fakahatchee Arsenault produced for the evening.

“My hope is that my artwork will inspire more people to visit the Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park, and support the Friends mission,” said Paul Arsenault.

In addition to Arsenault’s painting, a weekend stay for four at the private camp of Naples resident Ray Carroll will also be auctioned. The fully catered weekend in the heart of the Fakahatchee features all meals, raised tents, hot showers and a swamp buggy tour of the preserve.

Admission to the Five Faces of the Fakahatchee is $150 per person and includes a service of hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer. All proceeds will benefit the Boardwalk Improvement Project, with $90 of the ticket price qualified as a donation.
