Animal Shelter at Capacity Home for the Holidays Discounts Offered

Collier County Domestic Animal Services’ (DAS) shelters are at maximum capacity. The Naples and Immokalee shelters are currently home to 106 cats, 74 dogs and 13 rabbits. To reduce the shelter population, DAS is offering Home for the Holidays discounts for all pet adoptions through December 31.

Dog adoption fees are reduced to $20; cat adoption fees are reduced to $10. Rabbits can be adopted for only $5.

“With the shelters at capacity, our ability to maintain positive mental and physical health for the pets is reduced,” said DAS Director Darcy Andrade. “By offering discounted adoptions, we hope that many of the homeless pets will find their forever homes during the holiday season.”

Adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, age appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment, heartworm test for dogs, FELV/FIV test for cats, and 30 days of free pet insurance. That’s a value of more than $400.

Adoption hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 6 PM at DAS’ main shelter at 7610 Davis Blvd., Naples. The Immokalee shelter is open for adoptions from 12:30 to 3:30 PM, Tuesday through Saturday, at 405 Sgt. Joe Jones Road, Immokalee.
