All Fired Up for Holiday Clay Exhibit & Show Biz Memorabilia

Marco Island Center for the Arts is all FIRED UP for its Holiday Clay Exhibit along with Charlie Blum’s Show Biz Memorabilia. It is a holiday doubleheader and not to be missedwith 135 pieces of pottery for sale. 

The La Petite Galerie is featuring Charlie Blum’s unique exhibition with a sampling of over four decades of entertainment memorabilia. These were collected by Charlie and also given to him during his illustrious and wide-ranging career in show business. The exhibition opens December 8, 2020, and runs until January 5, 2021. 

Exquisite clay pieces are ideal for the holiday gift-giving.

Charlie Blum is a Man for all Seasons. He was a respected theater executive, major concert promoter, television producer, television host, performer, conductor, artist manager and so much more. 

On display at La Petite Galerie are items collected from Blum’s encounters and friendships with shining stars of stage and screen including Liza Minelli, Wayne Newton, Willie Nelson, Ringo Star, Mel Brooks, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet, Jerry Seinfeld, Jackson Five, and B.B. King.  

BB King and “Lucille” are synonymouson display at the La Petite Galerie is “Lucille” the name BB King, the American blues musician and legend gave to his guitars. They were specially crafted black Gibson guitars played by BB King and given and autographed to a select few. Charlie Blum presented over 30 concerts with BB King and treasures the conversations that often went on until 3 AM in the morning.  

Charlie Blum also produced one of Liza Minelli’s show. She was just recovering from hip surgery and “LIZA WITH A Z” was performance that was over the topCharlie still could remember the deafening applause when LIZA stood up to take her final bow.

Ringo Star, the drumhead from the Beatles, is another personal favorite of Charlie Blum. Also on display is a very special selection of pieces from Frankie Valli and his fellow “Jersey Boys. 

As a fundraiser for Marco Island Center for the Arts, Blum has generously donated framed “Rag Doll” sheet music autographed by Frankie Valli which will be auctioned. This silent auction will kick off on December 8 during the Second Tuesday Gallery Reception and close on December 22nd at 4 PM. If you can’t make it to the Art Center and want to bid, call 239-394-4221 and a staff member will assist you. 

As a talented singer, Blum will be performing at Marco Island Center for the Art’s Fly Me To The Moon and Let Me Play Among the Arts Gala on January 30, 2021. More information is available on the Art Center’s website where tickets can be purchased—seating is limited.  

All Fired Up – the Clay Guild’s Holiday Clay Show is currently being featured in the Lauritzen and Rush Galleries and showcases 130 clay pieces submitted by over 18 different artists that are members of the Marco Center for the Arts’ Clay Guild.  

All pieces are for sale and ideal for the holiday giftgiving and for that special person on your list or something to match home décor. Purchases made during this exhibition can be taken home immediately and not wait till after the show. 

Marco Island Center for the Arts was founded in 1969 by a dedicated group of artists and patrons, the non-profit Art Center has developed into a place to gather, to learn and to become inspired. The program offerings include classes and workshops for adults and children. The Art Center brings a wide variety of arts to the community including visual, music, literature, and special presentations. It is a showcase for local, national and international artists in many disciplines. It is located at The Marco Island Center for the Arts is located at 1010 Winterberry Drive and will be open to the public Monday – Friday 9 AM – 4 PM. It will be closed for the holidays December 24 – 25 and December 31  January 1.
