Activities at The Marco Island Woman’s Club

Debbie Rago, President of the Marco Island Woman’s Club, has announced that the Club will hold its first “in person” monthly luncheon and meeting since last March on Wednesday, April 7th, 11:30 AM at the MI Yacht Club, following the Yacht Club’s safe dining COVID protocols—social distance seating and mingling and masks for servers and patrons. Our guest speaker is Bob McConville, Florida Master Naturalist.

To be eligible for membership in the Club, you must be a woman that resides on Marco Island with the desire to be part of a local, civic-minded, philanthropical organization with an active social network. We encourage you to contact us to attend a monthly luncheon meeting as a paid guest ($42) to learn more about us in person. For more information about who we are, what we do, and how to join us, visit our website at www.marcowomansclub.com or email us at MIWCEL@gmail.com and follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/MarcoWomansClub.

Thanks to the Club’s dedicated Board of Directors and our loyal membership, the Woman’s Club continued its long history of giving back to the community this year, although not at our usual level. Even though the Club had to cancel its major annual fund-raising events, we were able to donate $2,000 to each of four local non-profits this winter, thanks to the generosity of our members who contributed the money that they would have spent on the Club’s monthly lunch meeting to our “Lunch Money” campaign.

The pandemic did not impact our Scholarship program. We will award annual college scholarships next month to graduating high school seniors that reside on Marco Island. In addition to awarding scholarships through our long-standing MIWC Foundation, we are delighted to announce the establishment of a scholarship in memory of long-time Club member and former president Lorraine Rogers. Lorraine was well known for both her financial generosity to the Club and her many years of stewardship of the Club’s Education Committee.

We look forward to seeing our members and guests in person at the April 7th luncheon meeting to celebrate each other, the Club’s accomplishments over this past year and our anticipation of once again working together to meet our philanthropic goals of giving back to the community.
