A beautiful, sunset wedding united Katelyn Pennimen and James Goglia in marriage on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, in front of Marco Beach Ocean Resort. The ceremony began as the sun set into the sparkling clean waters of the Gulf of Mexico, Marco Island, which has a very special connection for the bride and groom and their families.

The Pennimens and the Goglias have owned time shares at the Eagle’s Nest Beach Resort for several years and their children met poolside in 2007, when Katelyn was 15 and James was 16.

They became inseparable for the week of their vacation. A year later, the two young people met again at Eagle’s Nest and enjoyed a very happy reunion, during their families’ Thanksgiving holidays on Marco. This time the young romance blossomed and when they returned to their homes, Katelyn to Wausau, Wisconsin and James, to Branford, Connecticut, they were on the phone and emailing as much as their busy school and sports schedules would allow. A few months later, in January, 2009, Katelyn traveled to Ct. to visit James and his family. This began regular visits back and forth when the two managed to save the airfare. This was a priority for them both and the air lines between Wisconsin and Connecticut did quite a brisk business!!

James attended Southeastern University, a Christian college in Lakeland Florida and, as planned, Katelyn joined him as a freshman the following year. She matriculated in three years in order to graduate with James this month.

In November, 2011, again on family vacations at Eagle’s Nest, James proposed to Katelyn on the beach, on bended knee. On May 29, 2012, five years after they first met, James and Katelyn became Mr. and Mrs. James Goglia. Their parents, grandparents, family and friends traveled from California, Illinois, Connecticut and all across the country to join them in celebrating the beginning of their life together.

James and Katelyn are middle children and their siblings participated in their wedding. Maids of Honor for their sister were Kristen and Jessica Pennimen. Best men for their brother were Joseph and Nicholas Goglia. Mr. & Mrs. Eric Pennimen and Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Goglia are the parents of the bride and groom.

James’ grandparents are Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Goglia of Branford, Ct. and Mrs. Marjorie Iberger, of Ft. Pierce, Fl. James is also the grandson of the late George Olsen. Katelyn’s grandparents are Mr. & Mrs. Philip Wilbers of Fort Collins, Co. and Mr. & Mrs. Al Penniman of Rockford, Il.

Following a honeymoon on Grand Cayman, James will enter pre med school and move onto the study of dentistry.“I am extremely grateful for my awesome family, now made more wonderful with my beautiful wife becoming part of the Goglia clan.”

Katelyn, a business management major, will be looking for employment. She knew at once that James was the only one for her and is ecstatic to be Mrs. James Goglia. The couple will continue to vacation on Marco Island, one of their favorite places, where they met, fell in love and married. Coastal Breeze News offers congratulations and a long, happy life to this charming, young couple.
