The Marco Island office of the American Cancer Society cordially invites you to attend “A Magical Night to Finish the Fight,” the 2019 Imagination Ball, presented by Phoenix Roofing, February 1 at 6 PM at the JW Marriott Marco Island. This gala fundraiser will feature fine food, music, both live and silent auctions and the presentation of the prestigious Grado Award to Marco Island’s beloved philanthropists Gary and Anne Landis. Chaired by Debra Shanahan for the seventh consecutive year, this enchanted evening will prove to be more than just a magical moment of elegance and style. Thanks to the generous spirit of our community, the Imagination Ball has grown to be a spellbinding force in the fight against cancer.
Perhaps the most resounding message of the evening will be revealed in the journey of a survivor. Lauren Ross, of Mango’s Dockside Bistro, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 at the age of 33. Lauren has chosen to share her story of courage and determination as she goes through treatment. This brave young lady is a strong advocate for early detection, especially for women under 40. Lauren is the captain of ACS Relay For Life team Lulu’s Crew. She is a force to contend with in the fight against cancer as she spreads her powerful message of hope.
Presenting sponsor, Phoenix Roofing & Construction, Inc. is no stranger to the concept of magic. In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, they have accomplished marvelous feats for the people of Marco Island. Phoenix Roofing strives to become a lasting part of the Marco Island community. They know in their hearts that a home is far more than just a structure with walls and a roof. For Phoenix Roofing, a home is an extension of families and friends; a collection of memories and precious moments; a magical celebration of life!
Other sponsors include Seminole Casino Hotel, Condee Cooling & Electric, Inc. and Daikin, Marco Island Sunrise Rotary Club, Corrie Grado, John R. Wood Properties, Rose Marina and the Law Offices of Hodge and Snyder, along with in-kind sponsors CJ’s On the Bay, Coastal Breeze News, Carrie Darling Events, Rick Gallo Auctioneer, Marco Island Florist, J & J Photography, JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort, PSAV Presentation Services, Kathein Jewelers, and Island Media Group.
There are so many ways to be a part of the magic. Your $100 donation can purchase a soft, huggable stuffed animal — an elephant, monkey, or giraffe — that will be delivered along with your personal message to a child in the hospital. Imagine the enchantment of a hug. Imagine the magic of healing!
You can add a little sparkle to the magic with the Diamond Dig sponsored by Kathein Jewelers. All it takes is your donation plus a little pull on a magic cord and “Presto!” You just might be going home with the dazzling grand prize treasure – a gorgeous pair of 2.01 carat total weight diamond earrings!
The Imagination Ball will continue as a movement throughout the community long after the evening has ended. From now through June 30, Marco Island Candle Company will generously donate $1 from all sales to the American Cancer Society Imagination Ball. Imagine the magic of light in the darkness, just as it will be when we find a cure.
The fight against cancer will not end until this deadly disease is eliminated from our world. The real magic will come when we no longer need to merely imagine a world without cancer. One day that world will be our reality.
But we need more than just the word “abracadabra” to make that magic happen. We need YOU! Please join us for “A Magical Night to Finish the Fight.”
