Stan and Donna Niemczyk
They were surprised by the announcement made at a recent Kiwanis meeting. Donna Niemczyk works for the Marco Island Area Chamber of Commerce and is the current President of the Kiwanis Club. Stan Niemczyk, a realtor with Keller Williams Realty, is the past President of the Sunrise Rotary Club. They were selected for their numerous contributions to the community including efforts which raised over $100,000 for their respective clubs in the past two years. They are the driving force behind the Marco Island Seafood Festival.
Alan and Linda Sandlin
They’re long-time residents, well known for their success as realtors with RE/MAX Results Realty. Alan is Chairman and Master of Ceremonies for the 2010 Easter Sunrise Service; serves on the board of directors for the Marco Island Area Association of Realtors, is active with the Marco Presbyterian Church Outreach and Long Term Planning Committees. Linda serves on the board of directors for the Marco Island Rotary Club and is chairwoman for theInternational Projects committee. The Sandlins have contributed immensely to the Marco Island Historical Society with countless volunteer hours and substantial financial contributions.
Joe is a member of the Knights of Columbus, currently serving his second term as Grand Knight, he serves on the Police Foundation and heads the Neighborhood Watch and Traffic Control committee. His past service to Marco Island includes being chairman of the Code Enforcement board, as a member of the Marco Island Utilities committee and as a member of the City Charter Review committee, MICA Beach Advisory committee, board member of Habitat for Humanity, former teacher to new Habitat residents, and as member of the San Marco Catholic Church Out Reach Committee.
Steve has made substantial contributions to Marco Island and the island’s community spirit not only as a member of the Sunrise Rotary Club, but as chairman of Christmas Island Style for the past five years. Steve helps organize the St. Patrick’s Day parade. He’s a member of the Marco Island Fire/Rescue Foundation and is co-chair of the Marco Island Seafood Festival and has served on the Veterans Park committeeand the ‘Trees R Cool’ tree donation program.
Hideaway Beach Association Members
These members raised $93,000.00 for the American Cancer Society this year. They support the GAP program, which provides mentoring of high school students and a college scholarship program. Each year the members host a “Buddy Day” for children from Immokalee, with a day of fun, educational activities, and lunch on the beach. Each year members host a Christmas gift tree providing gifts for needy students of Manatee Elementary School. They also participate in the Adopt-a-Road program.
Recipients are nominated by members of the community. The Marco Island Noontime Rotary Club director’s make the final selection from the nominees presented. The recipient is then “surprised” by a team of club members presenting a certificate in honor of their efforts. This is followed by a formal award presentation at a gala dinner to be held at the San Marco Catholic Church Hall at 6:00 p.m. on April 30th. Tickets are $45.00 each including dinner.
